UL969 Labels for Drones

What is UL969?

UL969 is the Underwriters Laboratories standard for marking and labeling systems for electrical and electronic equipment. It ensures labels remain securely attached and legible throughout the life of the product, even when exposed to heat, cleaning chemicals and regular handling.

Drones are designed for maximum reliability so that every component, including product labels, plays a role in keeping flights running smoothly. From drones to launch platforms to charge pads: durable, and often variable identification is essential for installation, maintenance, power, safety, launch/landing, and regulatory compliance. That’s why most drone manufacturers specify UL969 compliant labels. Melrose also maintains AS9100 certification, ideal for supporting programs with rigorous requirements, such as FAA regulated programs.

Application

Some of the most common applications in drones include:

  • Landing Platforms: Human and/or Machine readable identification helps drones, pilots, and technicians quickly locate, place, and land equipment.
  • Safety & Warning Labels: High-voltage, electrical hazard, and caution labels that must remain readable for the life of the equipment.
  • Barcode & Asset Labels: Durable labels that support inventory control, maintenance and equipment tracking.
  • Equipment ID Labels: Model numbers, serial numbers and regulatory information.

UL969 Compliant Labels

A failed label can create unnecessary downtime and make equipment more difficult to identify or maintain flight safety. For manufacturers, choosing the right label construction helps ensure products meet customer expectations while maintaining flight safety.

UL969-compliant labels are designed to provide:

  • Long-lasting adhesion
  • Excellent print durability
  • Resistance to heat and abrasion
  • Reliable barcode and QR code readability
  • Compliance with electrical equipment requirements

UV exposure also presents a challenge for outdoor installations and applications. Melrose offers UV resistance constructions that are UL969 approved.

Whether you’re building drones, landing platforms, or components, Melrose can provide durable labeling solutions designed to perform for the life of your product.
